Frances Lorraine Huff Hull

Frances Lorraine Huff Hull was born June 6, 1919 to Ora Steward and P.D. Huff Sr. in Searcy, Ark., and died Nov. 26, 2012 in Dallas, Texas. She was educated in Little Rock public schools, and graduated in 1936. She attended Draughan's Business College where she studied drafting. During WW II, she worked for the War Emergency Pipeline, where she met Burton Elias Hull, who was president of the WEP and vice president of Texaco. They married in 1949. While Burt was president of the Trans-Arabian Pipeline, they lived in Beirut, Lebanon. They also lived in Dharan, Saudi Arabia, New York City, and San Francisco before settling in Dallas in 1951. Burt died in 1958. She was married Joe E. Lindsley from 1962 to 1967, and adopted his daughter, Linda. Rainey was very involved in the Arts in Dallas, serving in the Symphony League (vp, sec, treas), Opera Guild (pres), Park Hollow Garden Club (pres), as well as serving on committees of the Arboretum, Civic Ballet, Art Museum, Theatre Center, Health & Science Museum, the Council on World Affairs, and International Society. She was a Girl Scout leader. She was owner/president of Colonial Builders in the 1960s. She enjoyed genealogy, flower arranging, oil painting, entertaining, and baking birthday cakes for friends. An avid traveler, she toured Asia, Europe, and the Middle East extensively. She was also very active in Republican politics; as a member of the Park Cities Republican Women's Club, and as precinct chairperson for 17 years. She was an active volunteer at Presbyterian Village North for over 20 years, having served on numerous committees. She was a member of East Dallas Christian Church from 1951-1967, and Highland Park Presbyterian from 1967 until her death. Rainey was a cheerful heart who always made people smile; she loved animals, and was a generous soul. She was a social butterfly, a character and loved to tell many stories about her very interesting life. Rainey is survived by her daughter, Linda Lindsley (Bob) Farnsworth, and grandchildren, Erica and Chris; nephews, Jon Stephen (Mary Lou) Atkins, Rodger (Mell) Atkins, and nieces Linda Hall Nelson, Sandra Rushing, Rebecca Huff Terrien, and Cherry Haney Fishburne; and many great nephews and nieces. Her parents and siblings, Virginia Atkins, Martha Haney, and P.D. Huff Jr, predeceased her. A special thanks to Laura Barton for her invaluable help the last 7 years, and to the staff at Presbyterian Village North for the past 29 years of compassion and care. A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 29 in the library at Presbyterian Village North, 8600 Skyline Drive, Dallas, Texas 75243. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park in Little Rock on Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to The Presbyterian Village North Caring Fund.
