Jimmie Lee Battles, 70 of Guy, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 5, 2012. He was born on Thursday, September 3, 1942 in Dunklin County, Missouri, to the late Edward Hughes and Gertie Mae (McGrew) Battles. Mr. Battles graduated from Seneth High School and went to attend classes at The University of Arkansas. He was a 33rd degree mason, and served on the board of directors at Farm Bureau, Associated Farmers Co-op and had various jobs in his life. He was born into share cropping, picked cotton, managed grain elevators, commodities broker, and by his words "The Greatest Peach Man that ever lived." Jim is survived by his wife of 35 years, Alta Faye Battles; two daughters and their spouses, Tracy and Curtis Gregory, Jamie and Tom Henry; two sons and their spouses, Paul and Kandi Potter and Jimmie and Melissa Battles II, grandchildren, Brett and Heath Gregory, Morgan, Scout, Alexis, Savannah, Katie, Caroline, and Gabe Henry, Jimmie Battles III and Jackson Battles; a sister, Barbara Jean Collins of Conway; two special aunts, Estelle Floyd of Seneth, Missouri, and Edith Noren Hydrick of Tulsa, Oklahoma. He is preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Joann Harding; brothers, Edward Hughes Battles Jr., and Johnny Mack Battles. Funeral services will be at 10:00 am, Saturday, December 8, 2012, at Copperas Springs Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Copperas Springs Cemetery with Brother Gary Burdin officiating. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday, December 7, 2012 at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Greenbrier.
