William David Wooley, 79, of Stamps, Arkansas passed away on December 16, 2012 at the Lifecare Specialty Hospital in Homer, Louisiana after a lengthy illness. David was born January 2, 1933 in North Little Rock, Ark. the only child of the late Ples and Ruby Wooley. He was a 1950 graduate of North Little Rock High School. He earned a degree in Business Administration from Southern State College in 1956, now Southern Arkansas University, where he was a tackle on the Mulerider Football team 1952 to 1956. He was employed by the Halliburton Company for eleven years, after which he returned to SSC and earned a BSE in Physical Education in 1968. In 1971 he received his Master's Degree in Counseling from Henderson State University. David served in the Stamps and Lewisville High Schools as teacher, coach, counselor and as psychological examiner until his retirement. Still very interested in sports he worked as a football referee, a baseball umpire and a timer in track and field events. David was owner and operator of the "House of David" which built country furniture and many other wood products. He was a vendor at First Monday Trade Days in Canton, Texas for 35 years. David was a member of the First Baptist Church of Stamps, the Minute Man Sunday School class, the Columbia-Lafayette Chapter of Arkansas Retired Teachers Association. He was a 33rd Degree Mason with El Dorado Lodge #13, and a member of El Karubah Shrine Temple of Shreveport, La., where he served in the clown unit as "Buttons" participating in many parades and fundraisers for the Shriner's Childrens Hospital of Shreveport, La. David is survived: by his wife, Elizabeth "Libby" Wooley of Stamps, two daughters Susan Chitwood of Muskogee, Oklahoma and Sara Wooley of Longview, Texas, one granddaughter Linsey Williams and husband Travis of Coweta, Oklahoma and three nephews David, Bill, and Joe Simpson, and a host of friends across the entire Ark-La-Tex region. Visitation will be Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at the Smith Funeral Home in Stamps, Arkansas from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be Wednesday, December 19, 2012 in the Smith Funeral Home at 10 a.m., with interment following in Delight Cemetery in Delight, Ark.
