Smoky Scott Sanders

Smoky Scott Sanders, 80, of Okeechobee died October 19, 2012, at the Hamrick Hospice House in Okeechobee. Mr. Sanders was born in 1931 and had been a resident of Okeechobee for 17 years. His greatest enjoyment was getting together and entertaining with his many good friends and family. Mr. Sanders was a US Marine and served two tours in Korea. Another of his notable accomplishments was the fact that he was a cowboy from the 40's through the 60's and also appeared in numerous rodeos and was the Montana State Champ in 1958 and 1960. Being a Harley-Davidson enthusiast, he was a motorcycle daredevil and performed at many events riding the bike through walls of fire. Over 30 years ago, Smoky and his wife Kaye also started, Sanders Painting, an industrial painting business which is still in operation today by his son, Keith Sanders. Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Kaye Sanders, whom was the love of his life and who he adored; son, Keith Sanders (Kalynn) of Little Rock, Ark., and his grandson, Shawn Sanders of Little Rock, Ark. He is also survived by nephews, Dr. Charles Johnson (Jane) of Reno, Nev., Russell Johnson (Jo) of Germantown, Tenn., as well as grand nephews, Christopher Johnson of Reno, Nev., Eric Johnson of Germantown, Tenn., and grand nieces, Sara Johnson of Reno, Nev., Brittany Johnson of New York, N.Y., and Emily Johnson of Germantown, Tenn. A celebration of life service is planned for a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Okeechobee, P.O.
