D. Fenton McAdams

D. Fenton Adams, 90, passed away December 13, 2012. He was a part time resident of both St. Pete Beach, Fla. and Somerby Retirement Community in Mobile, Ala. He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Eloise Williams Adams, his stepchildren, Rob Mikell (Nancy) Charleston, S.C., Caroline Reynolds (Gary) Kingston Springs, Tenn., Bruce Mikell (Gwen), Mobile, Ala., his step-grandchildren, Kristi Tolin (Jonathan), Lindsey Cook (Michael), and Allison Mikell and two step great-grandchildren, Sawyer Bell, and Ella Tolin; his brother, Hon. Richard G. Adams (Merrill), his nieces, Rebecca E. Adams and Rachel Proulx (David) and their children, Madeline, Evan, and Maxwell, his sister-in-law, Ethel M. Adams,and nephew William R. Adams. Fenton was predeceased by his brother, James I. Adams, and a nephew, James R. Adams. He served in the U.S. Army in WWII 1943-44. Fenton was born in Reading, Pa. on July 29, 1922. Following military service he attended Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pa. and graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa in 1947 and from Dickinson School of Law in 1949. Upon graduation, he immediately joined the faculty as a full professor. Throughout the years he served as a legal educator or administrator at Dickinson College, University of Arkansas at Little Rock, University of Mississippi, University of Tenn., and Stetson Law School. He was a member of the Ono Island (Ala.) Mens Club and the Baldwin (County) Senior Travelers in Fairhope, Ala. The family requests memorials in Fenton's honor to be made to the UALR Law Library or the Arkansas Bar Foundation. A memorial service is to be held in Mobile, Ala. at a later date.
