Mr. Billy Peyton Doty, age 73, passed away on December 19, 2012 at the Forrest City Medical Center. He was born January 9, 1939 in McCool, Mississippi to Marvin P. and Lona Kerr Doty. He was preceded in death by his parents and a younger brother, Bobby J. Doty. Bill graduated from Forrest City High School and was a proud member of the Mustang Football team. He was awarded a football scholarship to the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattisburg. He was employed with Arkansas Power & Light Hamilton Moses Plant for 15 years and for twenty years was owner/operator of The Brass Lantern. During that time he was very active in the Forrest City Merchants Association. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and a 32and degree Mason. He served six years in the National Guard. Bill is survived by his wife of 51 years, Carolyn Whitley Doty, brothers-in-law Ronald Whitley, Melbourne, Fla.; Bob White, Hot Springs; Sister-in-law Joyce Whitley, Benton; Betty McCollum (Bill), Lenexa, Kan.; Nephews Curt Whitley (Susan) Benton, Blake Whitley (Laura) Hot Springs, Dennis Bailey (Jayna) Olympia, Wash.; Nieces Tammy Halbert, Forrest City, Allison Stevens, Overland Park, Kan., Brooke Griffths (John) Overland Park, Kan., Laura Stanion (Bob) Shawnee, Kan. and many great nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 22, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Stevens Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Forrest Park Cemetery.
