Claude William Cruthis Sr.

Claude William Cruthis, Sr. passed away December 20, 2012. Born to John H. Cruthis and Elsie Cruthis on January 14, 1934, Claude was a lifelong farmer and resident of Monroe County. His life was full and vibrant, filled with the joys of faith, family and friends. Only his Creator stood in higher regard than his family and community. A devoted father, husband and friend, Claude was the definition of a patriarch to his extended family. Claude's greatest sorrow was the loss of his son, Johnny to cancer. He is survived by his bride of 58 years, Katherine; two sons Claude William "Bill" Cruthis (Sindy) and Terry Cruthis (Debbie); a "son" David Carruth (Cheryl); four grandchildren, Trey Cruthis, Brittany Howard, Lee Cruthis and Sarah Holmes; four great-grandchildren, Ryanne, Drake, Ellie and Zane. Claude was a community leader serving on numerous boards, committees and associations, including the Clarendon School Board, Roe Men's Club and the Farmers Home Administration County Committee. Visitation is from 6-8 p.m. at Turpin Funeral Home in Stuttgart. Services are Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Roe United Methodist Church. Burial in Roe Cemetery. www.turpinco.com.
