Earline Jiggs Hill

Earline "Jiggs" Hill, age 79, of Lonoke died Dec. 28, 2012, at home with her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker and was the official "boss" of the Horton family. Earline was a member of Bayou Meto Missionary Baptist Church. Preceding in death is her husband Julius A. Hill Sr.; parents, Charlie Horton, Ailene Staton Horton; step-mother, Allie M. (Evans) Horton and sister, Barbara Jean Tippitt. Surviving are two sons, Julius A. Hill Jr., Ernest Lee Hill and daughter-in-law Heather; grandchildren, Brooke Nicole and Holden Hoyt Hill; the Horton family brothers, Mick (Carolyn) Horton and Carl (Sandra) Horton; sisters, Judy (Doyne) Carpenter, Faye (Jim) Skillern, Sue (Wendell) Walker and Patsy (Ronnie) Lassiter, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Earline also considered Jude's family her immediate family too. The Beulah Hill family loved Earline and her boys and stayed in contact with them throughout their lives. The Hill brothers and their sister Beulah Mae (Hill) Pearson were just a phone call away. Earline rarely left her home but stayed in contact with family and friends by phone. We all grew to rely on her to keep us up to date with family matters. If we needed someone's phone number, or the name of a past relative, or to know if someone had been sick, we called Earline. Even if it was just to check in or say hi, we called Earline. Those phone calls will be missed by many. Visitation will be Sunday, Dec. 30 at Boyd Funeral Home, Lonoke from 2-4 p.m. The service will be Monday, Dec. 31 at 10 a.m. at Bayou Meto Baptist Church with burial at Legate Cemetery.
