Wilma Ward McDaniel, 83, died Friday, Dec. 30, 2011, at her daughter's home in Little Rock. She was born May 13, 1928 in Quitman, Ark., to Elder Vernon and Stella Grissom Ward. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Dr. Edwin L. McDaniel; brothers Elva Ward and Jesse Ward; and sisters Melba DeBusk, Reba Gilmer, Georgia Bannister, and Vernell Ward. Survivors include her daughters Gloria Bearden, Kathleen Traylor, Becky Morley; and a son, Michael McDaniel; nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; and her brother J.L. Ward. Wilma was a long-standing member of Park Hill Baptist Church and loved by all who met and knew her. She devoted her life to serving the needs of her family and friends with warmth and love. Even after her debilitating stroke six years ago, she lived each day with dignity, grace and a smile. Always that smile. The family would like to express heartfelt gratitude and thanks to Baptist Hospice nurse Polly Tabb, Dr. Kimberly Curseen; caregivers Joy Richardson and Ann Arouh; and Baptist aide, Shirley Barnes, for all the care, tenderness, and love they shared with our Mom. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2012 at Griffin Leggett-Rest Hills Funeral Home, 7724 Landers Road, North Little Rock, and the funeral will be conducted by Dr. Bob Harper of Park Hill Baptist Church, on Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2012 at Griffin Leggett-Rest Hills Funeral Home.
