Jessie Mae Boykin Burns, 71, of Montrose, died Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at her residence. Mrs. Burns was a native and life long resident of Hamburg and a resident of Montrose for the past few years. She worked at the Hamburg Shirt Factory for 22 years. She was a member of the Montrose Baptist Church where she served as the pianist and Ladies Sunday School Class Teacher. She was a former member of the Promise Land Missionary Baptist Church where she was still an active member of the Lois Circle. She is preceded in death by her first husband, Lane Boykin in 2003; her parents, Herman and Gladys Hill Burgess; two brothers, Bill & Eddie Burgess and two sisters, Betty Ruth Adams and Sadie Maxwell. She is survived by her husband, David Burns of Montrose; two sons, Michael Boykin and Alvin Keith Boykin both of Hamburg; a step-son, Vernon Burns of Beebe; two step-daughters, Lisa Rowe of Cabot and Stephanie Boney of Lake Village; a sister, Margaret Huffstetler of Mena; 6 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Funeral services are 10 a.m., Thursday at the Promise Land Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Michael Reese and Rev. Todd Ferguson officiating. Burial will be in the Promise Land Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Montrose Baptist Church, P.O. Box 275, Montrose, Ark. 71658 or to Promise Land Cemetery Association, 318 Ashley Road 131, Hamburg, Ark 71646. Visitation: 6-8 p.m., Wednesday.
