DANNIE Z. SHEFFLER of Little Rock, passed away Friday, Jan. 6, 2012. She slipped peacefully away holding the hand of her beloved son, Gene. Dannie was born on Petti Jean Mountain to Daniel Lawrence McIver and Nora West McIver. The West family was one of the pioneering families who settled Petti Jean and their small frontier cabin is still there and is a historical part of the mountain. True to her pioneering ancestors, Dannie loved to travel, and her footsteps were left in many exotic, foreign places. She married John Sheffler, who shared her love of travel. True to their love of adventure, they met on a cruise to Alaska. Together they continued the journey of experience and travel, often renting an apartment and staying in the local area to better appreciate their surroundings. She was a member of Parkway Place Baptist Church in Little Rock. She was preceded in death by: her parents; a son, Billy Mack Porter; brother, Edward Owen McIver; brother, David Lindell McIver, and a sister, Norma Jean McIver. She is survived by her husband, John Sheffler; son, Eugene Porter (wife Ann); sister, Glenna Waller (husband, John); grandsons, Danny Mack Porter (wife Nong), Bradley Daren Porter, Jim Porter, David Porter, and John Porter. She leaves behind five great-grandchildren, Logan Porter, Connor Porter, Chloe Porter, Daniel Porter, Nathan Porter, and a niece Becky McNeill (husband Rick); nephew, Larry Waller; grand-nephew, Hunter McNeill and grand-niece, Heather McNeill. Visitation will be the hour preceding the service at 1 to 2 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 9, 2012, at Little Rock Funeral Home. The service will be at 2 p.m. at Little Rock Funeral Home and be led by a cousin Dr. Bill Brown. Interment will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Park in Alexander, AR. The family would like to thank the entire staff at Arkansas Hospice for their loving and kind care of Dannie as she completed her life journey.
