Frank Warren Roland, 65, passed away from brain cancer on Jan. 7, 2012, at St. Andrews Place in Conway, Ark. He was born Dec. 6, 1946, in Malvern, Ark., to Robert D. and Anna McCray Roland, who predeceased him. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Gini Lile Roland, his daughters and sons-in-law Lile and Casey Harbison of Little Rock, and Erin and Lawrence "Sunny" Haynes of Conway; his brother and sister-in-law, Douglas and Rose Marie Roland of Tuscan, Ariz.; his sister and brother-in-law, Felice R. and Tom Bond of Williamsburg, Va. He leaves behind four grandchildren, Will Harbison, Etta Haynes, Anna Ray Haynes, and Anna Margaret Harbison. Frank worked for American Management Corporation since 1990, serving as Executive Vice President of Administration. Prior to his working for AMC, Frank served as business manager of Hendrix College, where he taught in the theatre department. Frank earned his BA in art from Hendrix in 1968 and his MFA in theatre from Ohio University in 1970, after which he taught theatre at University of Memphis . Known for his amazingly versatile creativity, Frank designed Cabe Theatre and the gazebo at Hendrix, helped with the landscaping, and was a working artist in photography, stained glass, painting, and cooking. Frank enjoyed weekends on the Little Red River and kayaking with his grandchildren. He helped friends develop software and other computer projects and traced the genealogy of his family and that of his wife. His family and many friends will miss his fun-loving presence and playful spirit.
