Russell Bennett, age 86, of Little Rock, passed away Sunday, January 8, 2012 at Hospice Home Care in Little Rock. He was born on May 31, 1925 in Pulaski County to the late Dock Bennett and Tessie (Wells) Bennett. He was a WWII United States Air Force Veteran and a member of Iron Springs Masonic Lodge #342. He retired from the US Postal Service after 38 years. He was a long time member of Landmark Missionary Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Harley Bennett, Thelma Massery, Walter Bennett, Wallace Bennett, and Barbara Warrick. Mr. Bennett is survived by his wife of 67 years, Juanita (Singleton) Bennett; five daughters, Charlotte Gibbs (Danny), Sandra Tipton (Lindsey), Brenda McGinley (Danny), Sheila Schmeckenbecher (Otto), and Judy Morton (Jimmy); 12 grandchildren, Christopher Gibbs, Amy Reed, Shannon Gillespie, Michael Tipton, Jon Mark Tipton, Jason McGinley, Sara King, Arty Schmeckenbecher, Paul Schmeckenbecher, Russell Morton, and Jennifer Morton; 14 great-grandchildren, Garrett Reed, Kelsey Reed, Sarah-Catherine Reed, Haley Tipton, Tyler Tipton, Caroline Gibbs, Claire Gibbs, Lane McGinley, Lauren McGinley, Riley King, Bodie King, Landrey King, Russell Schmeckenbecher, and Jessica Schmeckenbecher, and other relatives and friends. Funeral service will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in the Landmark Community with Bro. David Robinson officiating. Interment will follow at Landmark Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Mr. Bennett's grandsons.
