Joseph M. Jackson Jr.

Joseph M. Jackson Jr., age 95, died January 8, 2012. He was born in Chicago, Illinois August 18, 1916. He attended Little Rock Senior High from 1932 to 1934. Following graduation, he attended Arkansas Law School completing the requirements for his LLB degree. He is survived by his wife, Grace Talkington Jackson; his daughter, Barbara Jarrett of Baton Rouge, La.; his son, Ron W. Jackson of Baton Rouge, La.; two granddaughters and seven great-grandchildren, all residing in Louisiana. In 1942 he went to work for Arkansas Power& Light Company as a Customer Sales Representative. In 1948 he was promoted to the Claims Department as Assistant to the General Claim Agent and later as Claims Manager. His office was transferred to Little Rock in 1972 and another promotion added the responsibility of the Fire and Casualty Insurance Section to his Office. He was a 32 Degree Mason, a member of Pine Bluff Lodge #69, and a York Rite Mason. He served for 38 months in the Asiatic Pacific Theater as a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. In lieu of flowers, memorials should be made to Jefferson Baptist Church Mission Fund in his honor. A celebration of his life will be held at Jefferson Baptist Church, 9135 Jefferson Hwy., Baton Rouge, La. on Thursday, January 12, 2012 at 2 p.m. conducted by the Rev. Dr. Tommy French.
