Dr. Paul Hogue, Jr., of Benton, age 88, passed away peacefully on January 9, 2012. He was born in Paron, AR on January 4, 1924 to Frank P. Sr. and Lyda Roberts Hogue. He was preceded in death by his parents and by his wife Alice Marie Morrison Hogue, the mother of his 3 children who survive him, Dr. Robert Hogue and Cindy Hogue of Benton and Curtis Hogue of Fayetteville, AR. He is also survived by three grandsons, two granddaughters, and four great-granddaughters. He is survived by his wife Lillian Hogue and her children, Debbie Turbyfill, Randy Cash, and Lorna Higgins of Benton, three grandsons, and 3 granddaughters, and 10 great-grandchildren. Dr. Hogue graduated from Paron High School in 1941. He enrolled at Ouachita Baptist University where his education was interrupted to serve in the U.S. Navy during WWII as a corpsman in the South Pacific for two and a half years. He then returned to Ouachita University and graduated in 1947. Then he attended the University of AR Medical School where he graduated in 1952. He served his internship at the Baptist Hospital in Little Rock. He came to Benton in 1953 to start his medical practice as a family physician. He was greatly loved by the community he served. It is estimated he delivered about 2,200 babies during his 55 years of practice. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Benton for 59 years where he served as a trustee. He also was a member of the Sanctuary Choir, a member of the Explorers Sunday School Class, and taught Sunday School for many years. Dr. Hogue volunteered at the Christian Community Care Clinic, Christian Care Center, and CJCOHN. A celebration of Dr. Hogue's life will be 10 a.m., Friday, January 13, 2012 in the Sanctuary of First Baptist Church, 211 S. Market St., Benton, Ark. 72015 with Dr. Rick Grant officiating. Interment will follow at New Rosemont Memorial Park in Benton. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Thursday, January 12, 2012 in Selph Hall at First Baptist Church.
