Elbert Crawford

Elbert "Buddy" Crawford Jr. of Little Rock, Ark. was born Sept. 11, 1937 in West Helena, Ark. to Elbert Crawford Sr. and Carrie Pittman Crawford. Elbert passed away on Jan. 12, 2012 at the Veterans Hospital in Little Rock. He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Evelyna Crawford, and grand-children Christopher Crawford, Taliyah Crawford. Elbert served in the army as a M.P. He was a member of True Vine Baptist Church, Helena-West Helena, Ark. Elbert was employed with railroad express in Chicago, Ill. and later with United States Postal Service as a letter carrier. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 51 years, Edith Maxcine Hawthrone Crawford; three sons, Christopher Hawthrone Crawford (Sharon) of Atlanta, Ga., Andre Crawford, of Ellenwood, Ga., Elbert Crawford III (Andreia) of Little Rock; four daughters, Jacqueline Murdock, of Jonesboro, Ga., Debrah McGruder (Michael) of Forrest City, Evelyna Crawford of Searcy, Ark., Joyce Crawford of Fairburn, Ga., 14 grand-children, four great-grands. The family will receive friends for a life celebration from 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 19, 2012 at Moody Chapel, 5630 Mabelvale Pike, Little Rock, Ark.. Homegoing service will be Friday, Jan. 20, 2012 at 9 a.m. at Moody Chapel. Interment will follow at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock under the directions of Premier Funeral Home, 1518 S. Battery Street, Little Rock, Ark. 72202, 501-376-4800, "Only Heaven Can Serve You Better!"
