Doris Lorene Gallardo age 88, of Jacksonville went to be with the Lord Monday, January 16, 2012 surrounded at home by her family. She was born October 24, 1923 in Columbus, Georgia to the late Paul and Ovate Martin. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her two sons Harris and Mike Gallardo. She was a member of St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church, where she loved to play bingo. She was a member and past president of the NCO wives Club at Little Rock Air Force Base for many years where she held many different positions. She was an outstanding bridge player and taught many of her friends how to play, She was also a member of AARP and for many years she decorated tables for the monthly meetings, and established and sponsored a safety driving course for AARP chapter members, and coordinator of the 55 Alive Mature Driving chapter. She was awarded in 1993 with the Community Service Award from AARP, and she was an AARP delegate. She was a Cub Scout leader for many years at the LRAFB. She was a member and past president of the Arkansas Retired Military Association. She enjoyed trout fishing and camping at the swinging bridge at the Little Red River. She was a Cardinals fan and enjoyed many trips to St. Louis. She loved gardening and Bowling. In Montgomery, Alabama "dot" and her husband, and children lived in Hank Williams, Sr.'s mother' s boarding house. The couple very much loved hearing and dancing to "Hank's" Music. She is survived by her husband of 64 years C.L. "Don" Gallardo and two daughters, Jean Shahan and her husband Tom of Jacksonville, and Angella Garrie of Cabot, granddaughters Missy Komineos of Colorado Springs, Lori Bowers of Maumelle and husband Will, Charlene Alexander of Benton and fiancé Floyd, Rebecca Williamson of Cabot, and husband Myk, grandson, Joe Gallardo of Cushing, Texas and wife Christi, great-grandchildren; Toni Gallardo of Orlando, Florida, Tanner Bowers, Tyler Bowers, Travis Alexander, Emily Alexander, Alex Williamson, Katlyn Williamson. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at the funeral home. Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church in Jacksonville. Entombment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Park.
