Dixie Jones McCollum

Dixie Jones McCollum, 85, of Stuttgart died Monday, January 16, 2012, at her home. Mrs. McCollum was born June 8, 1926, in Sallisaw, Oklahoma, to Norman P. and Maud Klutz Jones. During World War II, her father owned Jones Bakery where she worked driving the delivery truck and decorating cakes. An academic achiever, she graduated high school one year earlier than her class. She and her husband J.W. owned McCollum Hardware for 18 years and she was involved in several civic and volunteer works throughout the years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Kerry McCollum; and brother, Norman "Pete" Jones. Survivors are her husband of 64 years, J.W. McCollum; two daughters, Rhonda Randall and husband Dennis of Billings, Montana, and Jamie Wewetzer and husband Jeff of Franklin, Tennessee; and two grandsons, Damon Ratcliff and Chad Austin Randall. Funeral services, officiated by Dr. David Bush, are 2 p.m., Friday at First United Methodist Church with burial in Lone Tree Cemetery. Visitation is 5-7 p.m., Thursday at Turpin Funeral Home.
