DuVal Carroll Fagan

Mr. DuVal Carroll Fagan, age 79, of Springdale, formerly of Little Rock, passed away January 17, 2012, at Springdale Health & Rehab after being diagnosed with cancer in early November. DuVal was born August 5, 1932 in Little Rock to parents Ellis and Medora Fagan. DuVal was raised in Oklahoma City and graduated from Classen High School in 1950. After a brief stint in the U.S. Air Force, DuVal went to California to seek work in the movie industry, where he landed a job as an assistant to the late actor/singer Gene Autry. DuVal attended the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, where he met his wife, the former Virginia (Ebie) Mitchell of Fayetteville. Following graduation from the UofA with a bachelor's degree in Political Science, DuVal moved to Little Rock, where he was employed in various marketing and public relations positions. He served as campaign manager in several successful statewide political contests, including the campaigns of his father, the late State Senator Ellis Fagan of Little Rock. DuVal enjoyed being involved with politics, and served as an aide to Governor Orval Faubus, as well serving on the staffs of the state legislatures in both Arkansas and Oklahoma. DuVal is survived by his son, Mike Fagan, of Springdale, two daughters, Virginia (Sissy) Smith of Helena, Ark. and Carolyn Adams of Miami, Fla., his sister, Judy Fagan of Cotter, Ark. and a brother, Gary Warmack of Oklahoma City, seven grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, brother E.M. Fagan III, and grandson, Will Wasson. Mr. Fagan will be buried at Roselawn Cemetery in Little Rock on Saturday at 2 p.m. Funeral arrangements are being made by Wasson Funeral Home. Graveside services will be performed by Rev. Travis Frank of St. John's Episcopal Church in Helena, Ark. Mr. Fagan's family would especially like to express their gratitude to the staff of Springdale Health and Rehab for the caring manner they performed their duties while DuVal was at their facility, and also the staff of Circle of Life Hospice with their caring assistance with DuVal and his family in his final days.
