Paul Michael Uher, "Pops", of Hot Springs, died January 14, 2012. He was born February 19, 1922 in Myers, New York; graduated from Lansing High School and then Ithaca College with a Masters in Physical Education and Syracuse University with a Masters in Special Education. He is survived by his children: Pamela Ann Uher of Rowlett, Texas, Steven Paul Uher (Donna) of Humphrey, Arkansas and Jeffrey Lewis Uher of Hot Springs; sister, Ludmilla Uher Jenkins of Las Vegas, Nevada and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his wife, Mary Ann Uher; brothers, John and Pete Uher and sister, Agnes Uher Gegg. Paul served in WWII from 1943-1946 spending time in the Philippines. His life was devoted to his family and children. He loved working with children and spent half his life in Recreation and the other half of his life in Special Education. The family moved to Hot Springs and owned restaurants including The Coach House, Chef Paul's, Pompeii and Two Boys and a Dog where Pops was seen by many. In his retirement in Hot Springs he loved attending Oaklawn Jockey Club where everyone knew him as "Pops" – always at the ready with a smile, a tip or a dollar to place a bet. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m., January 31, 2012 at Crossgate Church. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the National Diabetes Association.
