Bronnie Avis Brown Halsey, 99 of Greenbrier went to be with her Lord on Thursday, January 26, 2012. Born in the Fairview Community in Arkansas, she was a daughter to the late Marvin and Callie Chambers Brown. On October 29, 1933 she married the love of her life, Andrew Earl Halsey, who also preceded her in death. A brother, Aubrey Brown and a sister Elsie Defoe also preceded her in death. Although small in stature, she had a very big heart, extra strong faith and the ethic of hard work. Until the age of 93, she was still tilling her garden and mowing her yard. She recovered enough from her first stroke to still carried in firewood. Other strokes followed, each leaving her more disabled. During her life, besides working on the farm, she had seven other jobs. Those included working at Swift's Creamery, teaching music and piano, at both Enola and Mount Vernon School Districts, working at CHDC, J.C. Penney's until the age of 70, when she reached the age limit of the company. After 15 years of marriage, Bronnie and Earl became the parents of a daughter, Janice M. Halsey, who survives. Bronnie was a faithful, involved member her whole life at Centerville Methodist Church. Upon moving to Greenbrier in 1983, she became a member of Greenbrier First United Methodist Church, but she still considered Centerville home. She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed. Services will be held at 2 p.m., on Sunday, January 29, at Greenbrier First United Methodist Church with Rev. Kevin Lyon and Assistant Pastor Donna Bennett officiating. Interment will follow at McNew Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, January 28, at Roller McNutt Funeral Home in Greenbrier. On line guest book: www.rollerfuneralhomes.
