Robert Martin "Bob" Lohnes, age 80, of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, died Saturday, April 28, 2012. He was born November 4, 1931, the son of William Hugh Lohnes and Bess Emma Shaffer Lohnes. He is preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Hoyt Lohnes, Harold Lohnes and G. W. "Dub" Lohnes; and one sister, Amogene Waddle. Bob was born in Jonesboro, Arkansas and lived in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, before moving to Pine Bluff in 1946. He graduated from Pine Bluff High School in 1950. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a proud member of the 753rd AAA Battalion, he served in the Korean War as a radio operator stationed in Japan. He was employed and retired at International Paper Company in Pine Bluff. Bob loved traveling and history, spending the majority of his retirement years exploring the open road. He also enjoyed sports, particularly baseball, boxing, and golf, with a special love for horseracing. As one who appreciated a good joke and possessed a natural gift for humor, a pun was always on the tip of his tongue. He is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Bobra and Ellis Brown and Deana Lohnes all of Shreveport, Louisiana, and Marta and Kevin Sprague of Dallas, Texas; four grandchildren, Chris, Alan, Alissa and Paul Brown all of Shreveport; nieces, nephews and a host of friends. A private family gathering will be held. Memorials may be made in his honor to Arkansas Sheriffs' Youth Ranch, P.O.
