"Pop" matriculated at Union Valley one-room school, graduated from Enola High School in 1938, received an associate degree from Arkansas Tech after serving in World War II, and a bachelor's of science from the University of Arkansas. He served in the US Army in the Pacific theatre, landing in the second wave in the battle of Okinawa. He worked for the Farmers Home Administration for many years arranging finance for lower income farmers and rural water systems in Faulkner County. He maintained close ties with the community of Enola and truly enjoyed working on his farm and hanging out at Wooley's store. He and his beloved wife, Hilda, helped in the founding of the College/University Church of Christ and attended services there for almost 50 years. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. on Sunday, May 6 at the University Church of Christ, 3155 Dave Ward Drive, Conway.
