Christine D. Rogers

Christine D. Rogers, 86, of Helena-West Helena, Arkansas passed away Monday, May 14, 2012 in Helena. Mrs. Rogers was born September 26, 1925 in Red Bay, Alabama to the late Claude and Florence Rippey Duncan. She graduated from Watson, Arkansas High School before moving to Helena-West Helena where she was employed and retired as a Missouri Pacific Railway Operator at the Helena Railroad Ticket Office. Mrs. Rogers was also a retired employee of the Helena-West Helena School Systems Federal Program. As a member of the West Helena Baptist Church, she worked with the Children's Sunday School, Children's Choir, and Children's Training Union. Mrs. Rogers was a member of The Order of Railway Telegraphers, and a member of the Auxiliary of Retired Federal Employees. She is survived by her son, Mark Rogers and wife, Melody of West Helena; daughter, Malanie Cooper and husband, David of Brinkley, Arkansas; five grandchildren, Baxter Drennon and wife, Allison, Charles Cooper, Crandal Cooper, Christopher Rogers, and Corbitt Cooper; and four brothers, Chester Duncan of LaMack Texas; Clice Duncan of Livingston, Texas, Cloice Duncan and wife, Nan of Livingston, Texas, and Crandal Duncan and wife, Pam of Bismark, Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wilborne A. Rogers; three brothers, Charles Duncan, Calbert Duncan, and Clovis Duncan; two sisters, Clessie Duncan and Clister Duncan. Graveside services for Christine Rogers will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at Sunset Memorial Park in West Helena. Visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 5-7 p.m. at Roller-Citizens. Baxter Drennon and Reverend Dusty Rhodes will officiate. Memorials may be made to the Phillips County Museum Association, P.O. Box 38, Helena, Arkansas 72342 or to the Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, D.C. 20090-6011.
