Eugene King

Eugene King, 74, of Star City, died Saturday at his home. He was born January 31, 1938 in Carlisle to the late Arvel Burion King and Ruby Lenorah Kerr. He started working for his father in carpentry when he was just nine years old, and worked until going to work for the telephone company. He was a retired telephone lineman and office technician, and was a lifetime member of the Communication Workers of America Union. He was a missionary Baptist. He served in the Army National Guard. Also preceding him in death was a sister, Avie Lewanda Baxter. Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Cindy Hinton King, whom he married December 21, 1968 in Texarkana, Ark.; daughter, Tracy Steinman and husband Steve of Star City; sister, Tessie Arcola Tipton of Stuttgart; two grandchildren, Jake and Will Rodgers of Star City; and many loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at Griffin Funeral Chapel in Star City with Bro. John Paul Estremo officiating. Burial will be in Centerpoint Cemetery at Hazen.
