Bill Lauderdale, 77, of North Little Rock passed away at home on Monday, May 14, 2012. He was born in Elk City, Oklahoma to the late James Ralph and Iva Hardin Lauderdale and was the youngest of five boys. After high school he moved to Wichita, Kansas, where he met his loving and devoted wife of 45 years, Dalene Lauderdale. He promised her "if you marry me, there will never be a dull moment" and he was right. He is also survived by three children, Scott Lauderdale (Angela) of North Little Rock, Reba Whalen (Mike) and Michael Lauderdale (Lorraine), both of Wichita, Kansas; eight grandchildren, Scotty, Evonne, Jacye and Jacob, all of North Little Rock, Michael, Robyn, Jason and Sarah all of Wichita; and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four brothers. Bill was known as a true believer in the "Barter System, by his ability to trade anything for something that his family or someone else in need could use, especially weapons and motorcycles. He was also known for his sense of humor. He never met a stranger, could always make someone laugh and light up the room. He was employed for Arkla Gas, now Centerpoint Entergy for almost 40 years and volunteered for the Pulaski County Sheriff's department until 1980. He loved children and after his retirement he enjoyed playing "Santa" at the Little Rock and North Little Rock Hobby Lobby stores during the Christmas season. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer's Arkansas, 201 Markham Center Drive, Little Rock, Arkansas 72205 or Arkansas Hospice, #14 Parkstone Circle, North Little Rock, Arkansas 72116. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m., Friday in the North Little Rock Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home, 1921 Main St., 758-1170.
