Willie Edward Hughes

Willie Edward Hughes, 81, of West Helena, Arkansas passed away Wednesday, May 16, 2012 in Helena. Mr. Hughes was born September 21, 1930 at Fordyce, Arkansas to the late Ed and Beatrice Carter Hughes. He was a retired Chief Petty Officer E7 of the U.S. Navy, proudly serving his country in both the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He was a member of the American Legion and also the V.F.W. Mr. Hughes is survived by his wife, Kathline Fujioka Hughes of West Helena; a daughter, Nicole "Nicky" Hughes Savage and husband, Mark of Poplar Grove, Arkansas; four grandchildren, Russell Savage, Lynsey Savage Russell, Ashley Savage and Cole Savage; three great-grandchildren, Claire Savage, Emma Savage and Colton Burt; two sisters, Joyce Ann Honnell of Camden, Arkansas and Janis Saeler and husband, Billy Joe of Kingsland, Arkansas; two brothers, Jack Hughes of Camden and Jerry Hughes and wife, Darlene of Bearden, Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Troy and Raymond Hughes. Funeral services for Willie Edward Hughes will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 19, 2012 at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in West Helena. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m., Friday, May 18, 2012 at Roller- Citizens. Pallbearers are Anthony Arnold, Jason Burt, Tim Bond, Brad McClellan, Van Dawson and Trevor Wooten. Honorary pallbearers are James Arnold, Buddy Ray, Max Davis, Buddy Smart, Joe Murphy, Sonny Boydston, Dr. P. Reddy Tukivakala, Bob Wright, Pete Hibbard, and members of the American Legion.
