Alice Richard Keary Starks, 95, of Little Rock, passed away on Saturday, May 19, 2012. Alice was born in Wynne, Arkansas on April 19, 1917 to Delos "Dick" and Mary Walsh Richard. Alice grew up in Little Rock and graduated from Little Rock High School. After graduation she went to work for the Corps of Engineers and there she met Joseph Mansfield Keary from Kansas City, Missouri. They were married on April 17, 1939 at St. Andrews Cathedral in Little Rock, Ark. They moved several times during Joe's career with the Corps up until his death in 1959. At that time, Alice returned to Little Rock with their children. Alice and Joe are survived by four children; Mary Margaret "Mickey" Keary Roberts (Sidney) of Shirley, Arkansas; Janet Keary of Little Rock, Joe Keary (Kathy) of Little Rock; and Jim Keary (Linda) of Hot Springs, Ark. as well as six grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. Alice was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Joe and second husband, H. F. "Admiral" Starks, as well as her sisters, Janet Richard Kordsmeier and Gloria Richard Allen and brothers Delos, William and Robert "Nibs" Richard. Alice married H. F. "Admiral" Starks in 1973 and after they retired from the Veterans Administration they enjoyed traveling and visiting friends and relatives. "Admiral" died in 1995 and is survived by one daughter, Nancy Starks O'Brien (Tim) of Little Rock. Alice spent many hours knitting and crocheting beautiful heirlooms for her family. She was an expert at bridge and liked learning new things and reading. She loved to travel and enjoyed taking trips with the Senior Group at Our Lady of Holy Soul's Catholic Church. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5 to 6:30 p.m. with a Rosary beginning at 6:30 p.m. at Griffin Leggett Healey & Roth, 5800 W. 12th Street, 501-661-9111. Funeral Mass at will be 10 a.m., Thursday at Our Lady of the Holy Souls Catholic Church with Fr. Erik Pohlmeier as Celebrant. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial to Ozark Health Nursing Center to benefit their Culture Change program would be appreciated. Ozark Health Nursing Center is located at P.O.
