Emily Hoover Browning

Emily Hoover Browning, age 88, passed away Saturday, May 19, 2012 at Conway Regional Medical Center of Respiratory Failure. She was born January 19, 1924 in Monticello, Ark. to Wilford Willoughby Hoover and Vera Matthews Hoover. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Blake Thomas Browning, Sister Betty Jane Hoover Young and a brother, Samuel Hoover. Emily was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church and graduated from Arkansas State Teacher College (UCA) with a bachelors and master's degrees. She worked as a flight attendant for American Airlines for two years. Emily taught at Greenbrier and Conway Public schools for 29 years where she made many longtime friends. She is survived by her son, Blake T. Browning Jr. (Vicky), daughter, Melissa Browning both of Conway, a brother, Dr. George M. Hoover of Clifton, Texas, a grandson Brooks P. Browning (Elizabeth) of Little Rock, a grand-daughter Amy K. Browning (fiancé Phillip Scholtes) of Chicago and a great grandson Miles L. Browning of Little Rock. She also leaves behind loving nieces, nephews, and friends. A Memorial Service will be held at 2 pm Wednesday May 23, 2012 at the First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Drew Travis officiating. A reception will follow the service. Memorial may be made to the First Presbyterian Church or to a Charity of ones choice. Cremation services are entrusted to Roller-McNutt Funeral Home of Conway.
