Gregory Lance Farque

Gregory Lance Farque, MD, 61, of Little Rock died on May 20th from complications of Huntington's Disease. Greg was born in Crossett, Arkansas in 1950 to Bobbie and Claude Farque. He graduated from Louisiana Tech, received a master's degree in engineering from the University of Arkansas and an MD degree from UAMS. He completed his residency in Family Practice Medicine at UAMS as well. For ten years Greg served as the physician at College Station Community Health Clinic. He is remembered as well as having kept his white coat pockets full of bubble gum to share. He and the staff had just moved from a cinder-block building into a brand new clinic when it was destroyed by a tornado that came through Little Rock and College Station in 1997. Greg enjoyed a teaching and staff position at UAMS Family Practice Department before retiring. He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved younger brother, Douglas C. Farque. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Susan Cupp Farque, daughter Amy, grandson Nash Farque, his brothers Tony (Verne) Farque and Roger (Charlotte) Farque, a dog he rescued from the pound, Ragamuffin, nephews and nieces and a host of friends who admired his courage in dealing with the devastating effects of Huntington's Disease, as well as his soft-spoken, calm manner, his good advice and his construction skills. Special thanks to caregivers Rose Brewer who helped Greg five days a week, Erma Esau who helped Greg since 2009 and Debra Meeks who helped on weekends. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Little Rock Animal Village, Humane Society of Pulaski County, CARE for Animals or Huntington's Disease Society of America. The family will receive visitors at a celebration of Greg's life held at the family home on June 2nd beginning at 3 p.m. for drop-bys. Remembrances and remarks will be at 5 p.m. and all are asked to stay for food and fellowship. Dress is casual summer clothes. Burial will be private.
