George Ann Sims

George Ann Robinson Sims, age 75, of Batesville, died on Wednesday, May 23, 2012, at Baptist Hospital in Little Rock. She was born March 4, 1937, in Batesville to George Henry and Ann Pelly Sims. George Ann graduated from Batesville High School and continued her studies at Ouachita Baptist University and Arkansas State University. A lifelong Batesville resident, she was a member of First Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir. She was an active member of PEO and led a Bible study group for many years. George Ann's love for music, gardening and animals was only surpassed by her love for her family. She is survived by her daughter, Georgette King Sims, of Little Rock, her son, Noel Robinson Sims, of Batesville, and a host of loved ones. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Noel "Curley" King Sims. George Ann was a homemaker, a passionate advocate for animals, a genealogy buff and an avid Anglophile. Her zest for life was evident in everything she did, and her passing has left a great void in the lives of those who knew her. Pallbearers will be Joe Hipp, Curt Sims, Chris Sims, Andy Sims, Oscar Jones, Chaney Taylor, George Dortch Jr., Damon Dortch and Brandon Carter. Honorary pallbearers are George Dortch Sr., Gerald Meacham, Jim Wann and Lecel Combs. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Monday, May 28, at Roller-Crouch Funeral Home in Batesville. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 29, at First Baptist Church, Batesville. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery under the direction of Roller-Crouch Funeral Home of Batesville. Memorials may be made to the Independence County Humane Society, P.O.
