Robert Dale Wagers, 42, of Little Rock, Arkansas passed away May 26, 2012 at the VA Hospital in Little Rock, Arkansas with his family by his side. He was born January 31, 1970 in Jonesboro, Arkansas. Robert was a 1988 graduate of Buckeye High School in Deville, Louisiana. He served in the U.S. Army in the military police unit with several assignments including a tour in Korea. He was in sales and serviced many restaurants, nursing homes, hospitals, and other facilities by assisting with cleaning and chemical needs. Robert was blessed with the ability to sing. He was an amateur artist and musician. Robert loved to play golf, which his sons now continue to do. Growing up in Louisiana, he loved his LSU fighting tigers. He was a southern Baptist and claimed Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. His family is comforted with the knowledge the he is with his Lord and grandparents, Len Cundiff; Charles and Muriel Wagers; and Dale Barger, that have gone on before him. Robert is survived by his wife, Andrea Touchstone Wager; his sons, Matthew and Zachary Wagers; and daughter, Allison. He is also survived by his parents, Kent and Pam Wagers of Pineville, Louisiana; Mike Barger of Conway, Arkansas; his brothers, Stephen Wagers of Austin, Texas and Joel Wagers of Lincoln, Missouri; his sisters, Julie Wagers Dalme of Pineville, Louisiana, and Lindsay Barger Powell of Conway, Arkansas. He is also survived by his maternal grandmother, Bettye Cundiff of Jacksonville, Arkansas; Helen Barger of Jacksonville, Arkansas; and Mother and father-in-law, Bill and Marilyn Touchstone of Little Rock, Arkansas. The Family would like to express their thanks to the VA of Little Rock, Arkansas, the VA of Nashville, Tennessee, and the oncology nurse and physicians for their wonderful care and compassion during his seven year battle with cancer. Visitation will be on Wednesday, May 30th between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. at Arkansas Funeral Care. His service will be on Thursday, May 31st at 9 a.m. at Arkansas Funeral Care at 2620 W. Main Street in Jacksonville, Arkansas. Private burial will be at the Arkansas State Veterans' Cemetery in Sherwood. Pallbearers will be Michael Dalme, Seth Powell, Eric Touchstone, Dave Barger, Greg Rozenski, Jason Carrington, and Robert Ryder. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either the Special Scholarship fund for Wagers Childers at Metropolitan National at 11525 Financial Centre Parkway in Little Rock, Arkansas 72211, or to the VATVH, with a memo on the Check of Transplant Fund, VA Medical Center 1310 24th Ave. South Nashville, Tennessee 37212 Attn: Katrina Stokes-11T. This fund is for apartments set up for caregivers and patients while staying for transplants during long hospitalizations and treatments.
