Marilyn Alice Hill Oakley, born March 24, 1927 to Sol and Evelyn Tarter Hill of Carlisle, died August 29, 2012. She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years Chuck Oakley and her sister and best friend Nelita Hill Hunt. She is survived by her sons, Mike (Linda) Oakley of Jonesboro, Larry (Linda) Emory of Lonoke, and Tommy (Linda) Emory of Sherwood; the loves of her life, her seven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and numerous beloved nieces and nephews. Marilyn retired from the Post Office, and worked at Lewis Drug store. She was vice-president of the PTA and was a room mother when her boys were in school. She attended all their athletic and school functions. She loved her church, First Baptist of Carlisle and served on many committees and was officer in the Senior Citizen's Center of Carlisle; also various women's clubs and voting polls. Visitation will be Sunday from 2-4 p.m. at Boyd Funeral Home, Lonoke. Funeral Services officiated by Bro. David Lee will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, September 3 at First Baptist Church, Carlisle with burial following in Carlisle Cemetery. A nephew Jerry Hudson of Durham, North Carolina will play Bagpipes at the cemetery in love and honor of Marilyn. The family would like to thank her Carlisle friends, especially Bro.
