Mike Kendall, age 64, of Batesville died Friday, Aug. 31, 2012 at his home. He was born Jan. 16, 1948 at Batesville, Ark. to W.S. "Dub" and Willene Carpenter Kendall. He worked in banking and securities for 26 years having established Kendall Financial Consultants in 1988 and established Citizens Financial Services at Citizens Bank in 1995. He was a member of Rotary for 34 years, having served as secretary-treasurer and past president. He served on the board of directors of Montessori School and United Way, as well as on the board of directors of Batesville Chamber of Commerce. He served as committee chairman or co-chairman of the White River Carnival Parade Committee and Batesville Christmas Parade Committee for over 17 years. Mike was a strong Christian and active member of First Baptist Church in Batesville for over 30 years and served on the Finance and Budget Committee for over 20 years. Mike valued his Christian faith and his family. He was a man of integrity who was respected by his community and his family. He was a man of his word who lived according to his principles. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife, Myra Coop Kendall of the home; one son, Dr. Brian Kendall and wife Stephanie of Fayetteville; one daughter, Karan Pierce and husband Jeff of Rosebud; two stepdaughters, Tara Creighton of Batesville and Haley Bunch and husband Josh of Phoenix, Ariz.; four grandchildren, Preston Kendall of Fayetteville, Reed Pierce of Rose Bud, Sydney Creighton and Will Creighton both of Batesville and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will begin Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2012 at 10 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Batesville with Bro. Dennis Coop and Bro. J.D. Staik officiating. Burial will follow in the Oaklawn Cemetery in Batesville with arrangements by Qualls Batesville Funeral Service of Batesville. Visitation will begin Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2012 from 5 until 8 p.m. Pallbearers will be Brian Kendall, Jeff Pierce, Jimmy Goff, Steve Coop, David Wilkerson and Jim Pittman. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the W.S. and Willene Kendall Memorial Scholarship at the Central Avenue United Methodist Church, 1205 N. Central Avenue, Batesville, Ark. 72501.
