FRANCIS HOWARD COOK, 96, of North Little Rock, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 1, 2012. He was born April 30, 1916, in Wiville in Woodruff County. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of North Little Rock, the Triune Sunday School class, and an avid Razorback fan. Francis was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel E. Cook; brothers, Fred Cook and E.S. Cook; sister, Kathrine Kincaid; and three half-brothers, Nick, Wyatt, and E.B. (Bo) Matkin. He is survived by two daughters, Erma Davenport of Hot Springs and Deborah Hicks of Tampa, Fla.; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; nephew and nieces, Delano and Lynette Black of Memphis, and Sandra Kincaid of New York; and several other extended family members. He was a 32 Degree Mason, and a member of Pulaski Heights Lodge no. 673. He served in the United States Coast Guard aboard the USS Admiral Mayo in World War II. He graduated from Little Rock High School and worked for Kroger and Safeway until retirement. Funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at North Little Rock Funeral Home Chapel, 1921 Main St., 758-1170. Burial will follow in Rest Hills Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church of North Little Rock or your favorite charity.
