Terrance Robert "Ted" Phelps, 89 of El Dorado, Ark., formerly of Little Rock, died Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at Timberlane Nursing Home following a lengthy illness. Born on September 23, 1922, in Poplar Bluff, Mo., he was the son of James B. and Ruth Lane Phelps. Ted was a retired manager for Safeway, and a Razorback fan. He was a member of Harmony Baptist Church and attended Ouachita Baptist College. He served as a Medic in the Army during World War II and was awarded two Oversea Service Bars, the European Africa Middle Eastern Theater Medal with three bronze campaign stars for Naples Foggia with a bronze arrowhead, Rome Arno and Rhineland Campaign during which he was wounded on October 6, 1944, receiving a Purple Heart. Ted also received the American Theater Medal, an Army Good Conduct Medal and a Meritorious Unit Award. Preceding him in death are his parents, and his loving wife, Louise McKinnon Phelps Survivors are several nephews, Larry McKinnon (Cheryl), Micky McKinnon (Stacey), Rick McKinnon (Cindy), Tony McKinnon all of El Dorado, John Shrewbury (Debbie) of Benton, Ark., and Jim McKinnon (Sara) of Magnolia, Ark.; a niece, Jodie Sawyer of El Dorado; and a sister-in-law, Laura McKinnon of El Dorado. Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Friday, September 7, 2012 at Young's Chapel with Rev. Sam Whitlow officiating. Burial will follow at Arlington Memorial Park under the direction of Young's Funeral Directors. Visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 9 a.m. Memorial may be made to Harmony Baptist Church, 4268 Junction City Hwy, El Dorado, Ark. 71730, Marrable Hill Chapel, 110 Chapel Ave., El Dorado, Ark. 71730, or Immanuel Baptist Church, 501 N.
