Betty Lee Hunt, age 80, of Malvern, died Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at her home. She was born in Monticello, Arkansas on November 27, 1931 to the late Lee Bewley and Jewel Tippy Bewley. Reared and receiving her education in Monticello, she earned her bachelors degree from Arkansas A&M (now the University of Arkansas at Monticello) and her masters from Henderson State University. Mrs. Hunt was a public school teacher for over 34 years, having taught in Rison, Jones Mill, and Malvern, where she retired. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, where she attended the Friendship Sunday School Class. When her children were young, she and her husband were directors at Tanako, a United Methodist Church camp. She loved to play the piano, to travel with her family, and was an avid reader. She is survived by her husband, Bill Hunt, of the home, to whom she was married on August 30, 1951, in Conway, Arkansas; by her son Mark and his wife Phyllis Hunt of Malvern; by her daughter Janet and her husband Greg Hartz of Little Rock; by four grandchildren, Wesley Hunt, Luke and his wife, Melissa Hunt, Ben and his wife, Nicole Hartz, and Meredith and her husband, Luke Shelton; by four great-grandchildren, and one on the way. She was also preceded in death by her step-father, E.B. Rhodes. The memorial service will be at 11 o'clock on Friday morning, September 7, 2012 in the sanctuary of First United Methodist Church with Reverend Mike Fikes and Reverend LaVon Post officiating. Private interment will be in Shadowlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church prior the service, beginning at 10 o'clock.
