Edward Lee Eddy, age 79, of Morrilton, Arkansas, passed away Wednesday, September 5, 2012. He was born October 30, 1932, in Morrilton, Arkansas, a son of the late Garland Eddy and Clara Marie Brown Eddy. Mr. Eddy retired after 25 years as a Major in the Arkansas National Guard, was the retired owner of Arkansas Valley Wholesale Grocery Company, and a member of the Downtown Church of Christ. He also served 34 years on the Morrilton Fire Department and retired as Chief. He was past president of U.C.A. Alumni Association, State President of Arkansas Fire Chiefs Association, former Chairman Morrilton Security Bank (Regions) Board of Directors, and served on the Conway County Fair Board. He was famous for cooking at many local fund raisers, as well as being active in many other local and state civic organizations. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Delois Acord Eddy of Morrilton; two sons, Kent Eddy and Billie of Morrilton, Phil Eddy and Tina of Adona; sisters, Mary Ann and Jim Brown of Searcy, and Louise Eddy of Houston, Texas; a multitude of relatives and friends. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, September 8, 2012, at the Downtown Church of Christ with Randy Rankin officiating. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Friday, September 7, at the funeral home.
