James Coy (JC) Branscum

James Coy (JC) Branscum, 91, of Augusta passed away September 6, 2012. He was born August 26, 1921 in Rosie, Arkansas to the late James Wesley and Martha Ann Branscum. He was a member of the United States Air Force where he served in WWII. He was a 60-year member of the American Legion. Mr. Branscum was a loyal member of First Baptist Church and strong community supporter in Augusta, Arkansas. He was founder of East End Furniture in 1954 and spent retirement as a legendary Cache River fisherman. Mr. Branscum was preceded in death by three sisters, Ina Woodell, Lorene O'Shields, Willie Gibson, and a brother Virgil Branscum. He is survived by his wife, Geraldine, whom he married on December 24, 1946, three daughters, Brenda Key (Larry), Jeannie Whitehead (Talmage), Gale Branscum; four sons, James, Coy (Dixie), Bruce, and Bryan (Sarah) Branscum, 14 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Betty Davis of Arkadelphia. Visitation is Saturday September 8, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Rhodes Funeral Home in Augusta, Arkansas. Services will be held Sunday September 9, 2012 at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Augusta, Arkansas. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the American Legion.
