Leroy Thonton
Leroy Thornton, age 88, of Warren, Ark. died Tuesday September 11, 2012 at Bradley County Medical Center. Born March 28, 1924 in Bradley County, Ark. a son of the late Charlie Green Thornton and Wadie Smith Thornton he was a retired owner/operator of OTASCO and Coast to Coast for 25 years, a member of First United Methodist Church, He was a member of the Warren Lions Club and a U. S. Army veteran of World War II. Also preceding him in death was a brother W.J. Thornton and sisters Louise Camp and Rachel Taylor.
Survivors are his wife Hilda Pope Thornton whom he married July 2, 1949; one son, Doug Thornton, Warren, Ark.; one daughter, Debbie Hairston and spouse Joe, Warren, Ark.; four brothers, Leon Thornton, Charles Thornton, Billy Joe Thornton all of Warren, Ark. and Kenneth Thornton, Sumpter, Ark.; one sister, Charlene Ferguson, Star City, Ark.; four grandchildren, Brian Hairston and spouse Amber, Monticello, Ark., Kimberly McGaughey and spouse Kevin, Sherwood, Ark., Alyx Knox and spouse Jess, Luling, Texas and Rane Thornton, Round Rock, Texas; six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services 2 p.m., Thursday, September 13, First United Methodist Church. Burial in Oakland Cemetery by Frazer's Funeral Home. Visitation 6-8 p.m., Wednesday September 12, at Frazer's.
