Martha McDoniel Brogdon, 77, of Little Rock, Arkansas went to be with Jesus Tuesday, September 11, 2012. Martha was born in Batesville, Arkansas on September 22, 1934, to Virgil and Audie McDoniel. Martha was a 1952 graduate of Batesville High School and attended Draughn Business School in Little Rock, Ark. She was employed by West Department Store for many years. Martha was a talented artist, leaving many beautiful paintings to be cherished. She loved reading and needlecrafts but her greatest joy was her family. She and George Brogdon were married in West Memphis, Arkansas on July 27, 1953. A loving marriage for 59 years. She was attending Pine Grove Baptist Church. Martha is survived by her husband George, daughter and son-in-law Marcha and Allen Rushing, granddaughter and grand son-in-law, Leigh Anne and Glen Birdsong all of Little Rock, sister, Dorothy James, brother, Charles (Pat) McDoniel and Lewis (Kathy) McDoniel all of Batesville; sister-in-law, Anne Brogdon (Vernon) Younger of Hot Springs; uncle, C.M. Lewallen of Benton; and several nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Ralph McDoniel and JC McDoniel. Visitation will be 9 a.m., Saturday, September 15, 2012 at Roller-Crouch Funeral Home in Batesville, followed by a 10 a.m., graveside service at Oaklawn Cemetery in Batesville with Pastor Terry Sayers and Retired Pastor Dr. A.B. Hicks officiating. Serving as pallbearers are Frank Rushing, Mike Rushing, Eddie Rushing, and Doug Burris. Special recognition goes to three faithful friends, Helen Andrews, Wanda Bishop, and Dean Calloway of Little Rock for their continuing love and devotion, and Dorothy Mitchum of Batesville, Arkansas. The Family would like to express deep gratitude to Dr. Thomas B. Sneed and his staff at St. Vincent Hospital, 7th floor Oncology and Arkansas Hospice.
