George E. Johnston, 77, of Hot Springs died Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2012. He was born Dec. 25, 1934 in Vernon, Texas at the home of his parents, Delbert and Toy (Prescott) Johnston. He was a native of Cement, Oklahoma. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Loretta M. Johnston of Hot Springs, Ark.; one son, Kurt D. Johnston of Dallas, Texas: sister Lynda Kay Hayes and husband Tom, of Blanchard, Okla.; aunt Thelma Perritt, Carlsbad, New Mexico: brother-in-law Jimmie Walker and wife Margaret of Stillwater, Okla.; five nephews, four great-nieces and numerous cousins and relatives. George received his bachelor's degree in Forestry from Oklahoma State University and spent his professional career as a forester for the United States Forest Service, Dierks Lumber Company and Weyerhauser Company. He was an Arkansas State Registered Forester, a member of the member of the Society of American Foresters, the Oklahoma State University Forestry Alumni Association and the NRA. He was an avid outdoorsman, wood carver and camper. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, 2012 at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, September 14 at the same. Interment will occur at 11 a.m. Monday, September 17, 2012 at Elm Grove Cemetery in Perkins, Oklahoma with arrangements coordinated by Strode Funeral Home of Stillwater, Oklahoma.
