Leon Green

Leon Green, age 82, of Rison, went to be with the Lord, Thursday, September 13, 2012 at his home. He was born January 31, 1930 in Cornerville, a son of the late W.A. Green and Icie (Glover) Green. Leon married his love, Carolyn on December 3, 1983. He was a member of Zion Missionary Baptist Church. Mr. Green was the owner/operator of Green Logging. He enjoyed everything outdoors from working in the timber industry, hunting, fishing, playing gospel music and especially spending time with his grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Helen Green; one son, Norman Green; one stepson, Tommy Crofford; one brother, J. W. Green; also, two sisters, Geraldine Lloyd and Birdie King. Mr. Green is survived by his wife, Carolyn Green of Rison; one daughter, Pam Vance of Sheridan; two stepsons, Jim Crofford (Cynthia) of Ringold, Va., and Owen Crofford (Mendy) of Watson, Ark..; one brother, Floyd Green (Maybelle) of Glendale, Ark.; four grandchildren, Eric Vance, Tyler Crofford, Cayln Crofford and Cody Crofford. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends that loved and will truly miss him. Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m., Saturday, September 15, 2012 at Buie Funeral Home. Funeral services are 2 p.m., Sunday, September 16, 2012 at Buie Funeral Home of Rison with Brother C.E. Van Ness and Brother Calvin Terry officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Pallbearers are David Green, Jerry Lloyd, Tommy Green, Tim Green, Rex Stocks, and Matt Parker. Honorary pallbearers are Phil Green, Roy King and Wayne Parker.
