Marvin "Buddy" Hall

Marvin "Buddy" Hall, 87, of New Edinburg died Friday, Sept. 14, 2012 at his home. He was born Nov. 9, 1924 in Kingsland, Ark. Buddy was a retired ironworker, a member of Hebron United Methodist Church and a World War II Navy veteran. He is preceded in death by his parents, Charlie Hall and Addie Barnett Hall; three brothers, George Robbins, J.C. Robbins, Wylie Hall; two sisters, Mary Etta Miller and Ruby Bryant. He is survived by his wife, Frankie McGehee Hall of New Edinburg; two sons and daughters-in-law, Madison Keith and Robin Love of Frierson, La., Marvin Jason and Carrie Hall of New Edinburg; three daughters and sons-in-law, Tracy Yvonne and Jimmy Brashears of New Edinburg, Drs. Amanda Ann and Mickey Deel of Jonesboro, Carlotta and Jamie Thompson of New Edinburg; 10 grandchildren, SaraJane Love of Little Rock, Allyson Love of Frierson, La., Kaitlyn Downs of Redfield, Austin Hopper and Tate and Saydee Hall of New Edinburg, Shannon and Ruby Deel of Jonesboro, Pamela Nichols and Raylon Thompson of New Edinburg. A member of the greatest generation, Buddy enlisted in the navy in 1943 and served until 1946. He was a plankowner of the PCE-848 and served as a radioman in the south pacific during World War II. Highlights of his career include being present in Tokoyo Bay as the peace treaty was signed, being present at the dedication of the World War II monument in Washington, D.C and sailing as a guest on his daughter's ship the USS Mesa Verde. Buddy also served his community and was a life-long member of Hebron United Methodist Church, a retired member of Iron Workers Local 321, a member of the Masonic Lodge and member of the Cleveland County Soil Conservation Service for over 30 years. Visitation will be Sunday 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Benton Funeral Home in Fordyce. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Hebron United Methodist Church in New Edinburg with Rev. Maurice Caldwell and Rev. Dusty Rhodes officiating. Burial at Hebron Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Hebron United Methodist Church. Arrangements by Benton Funeral Home in Fordyce.
