SYLVESTER E. POLLARD, 92, of North Little Rock, Ark. passed away Thursday, Sept. 13, 2012. He was born in Bradford, Ark. on July 26, 1921. He was the son of the late James E. and Florence Belle Taylor Pollard. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother Elgin Pollard. Sylvester attended Faith Baptist Church in North Little Rock. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, great-great-grandfather, and friend. He enjoyed having his family around as much as possible. He will be missed by all that knew him. Mr. Pollard attended Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, Ark. Some of his lifetime interests include: Civilian Conservation Corp, US Civil Service at Camp Robinson and Missouri Pacific Bus Lines/Continental Trailways. He served on the North Little Rock Civil Service Commission and the Faulkner Lake Drainage District. He also served as the first treasurer of the Boy Scouts of America Troop 555 in Little Rock, Ark. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Magness Pollard; daughter, ElVesta June Pollard Shoptaw (Basil), North Little Rock; son, Stanley Pollard (Virginia), Rowlett, Texas; brothers, Calvin Pollard, Bryant, Norman Pollard (Irma), Little Rock; five grandchildren, Michael Shoptaw (Melody), Bryant, Ashelyn Fain (Jerry), Frisco, Texas, Heather Geoghagan (Jay), North Little Rock, Philip Pollard (Jennifer), North Little Rock and Marie Pollard, Garland, Texas; five great-grandchildren, Scott Shoptaw (Allyson), Manhattan, Kan., Isaac Fain, Louisville, Ky., Karlie Fain, Frisco, Texas, Adeline Geoghagan and Nathaniel Geoghagan, North Little Rock; one great-great-grandchild, Aleah Shoptaw, Manhattan, Kan.; many nieces and nephews.  The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to Dr. Jay Geoghagan and the Hospice Home Care staff who graciously provided care. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2012 at Faith Baptist Church, 109 Tanglewood Drive, North Little Rock, Ark. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Monday, Sept. 17, 2012 at Roller-Owens Funeral Home, 5509 JFK Blvd., North Little Rock, Ark. 72116 (501-791-7400).
