Ava Fish Halbert

Ava Fish Halbert, of Star City, joined our Lord in heaven on Sept. 21, 2012. Hers was a life of giving and serving in a multitude of ways, especially through her church. Ava was born June 23, 1912, in Lincoln County to Samuel Jason and Martha Virginia Gammill Fish. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband of 55 years, Rupert Halbert; and her six siblings. Ava is survived by three daughters: Charlotte Halbert (Ben) Kirby, Judy Halbert (Ellis) Leagans, and Sammye Halbert (Bill) Fuller. She is also survived by six grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. A service to celebrate her life and victory will be held at First Baptist Church, Star City, on Tuesday, Sept. 25, at 2 p.m. Visitation will be Monday, Sept. 25, from 6-8 p.m. at Griffin Funeral Service in Star City.
