Billy Carroll Bartlett

Billy Carroll Bartlett, 72, of Atkins went home to his heavenly Father on Friday, Sept. 21, 2012. He was born Dec. 17, 1939, in Morrilton to Bill and Artie Bartlett. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, and spent 33 years with the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The first 13 years as a clerk and after graduating from The University of Arkansas in Little Rock he entered Special Agents training. He retired in 1992 after 20 years as a Special Agent. He was a member of Union Grove Free Will Baptist Church, a long time Sunday School Teacher, and an ordained Southern Baptist Deacon. He married Margaret (Peggy) Heigle Bartlett, on July 28, 1962. Billy loved to fish, especially at Lake Overcup, North of Morrilton, and he enjoyed taking his two grandsons bream fishing at Lake Atkins. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Donald. Survivors include his wife; one sister, Mamie Sue Berkemeyer of Atkins; one son, Donald Wayne Bartlett of Crow Mountain; and a son-in-law and daughter, Troy and Melinda Jeffrey of Hesston, Kan.; along with two grandsons, Sean and Dalton Jeffrey, also of Hesston. A memorial service will be at Union Grove Free Will Baptist Church, Atkins, Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2012, with Brother David Bishop officiating. The family will receive friends at the church following the service. Honorary pallbearers include Charles and Joann Baker, Sonny Nunnelly, Sylvia May, Dorothy Wiley, and Polly Tackett.
