Steven Robert Owen

Steven Robert Owen, 55, of North Little Rock, passed away on September 21, 2012. He was born in Oceanside, California, on March 8, 1957, to Wilma Owen and the late Forrest Owen. He graduated from Kubasaki High School (Okinawa, Japan), Class of 1975. Throughout his life, he earned degrees in several different areas of study. Steve was an avid reader and lover of all types of music, but especially blues and classic rock. Later in life he learned the joy of playing guitar. He was a substitute teacher at NLR High School, a job he very much enjoyed. Steve was preceded in death by his father, Forrest Owen. He is survived by his mother, Wilma Owen; brother, Gary Owen (Sharon); and four loving sons: Chris (Christie); David (Stacey); Nathanial; and Stephen. He is also survived by six grandchildren: Jaxon, Ella, Emma, Madison, Shawn, and Ashlyn. They knew him as "Papa Bear." In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made out to the North Little Rock High School West Campus Music Department, 101 W. 22nd St, NLR, Arkansas 72114. A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, September 26, at Arkansas Funeral Care, 2620 W. Main St., Jacksonville, Arkansas.
