Flora Jean Roth

Flora Jean Brain Roth, 98, passed away Monday, September 24, 2012, at Crestpark Retirement Home in Stuttgart. She was born February 13, 1914, in Stuttgart to Sidney George Brain and Sarah Elizabeth Clark Brain. She graduated from Stuttgart High School, attended Arkansas Teachers College (UCA) and graduated from Hendrix College with a teaching degree. Flora Jean married Ralph Daniel Roth December 29, 1936. They were married 44 years until his death February 11, 1981. She is survived by one son, Clark Roth and wife Aldora of Stuttgart; grandson, Brian Roth of Stuttgart; granddaughter, Jennifer Roth Reinhardtsen and husband Steve of Flower Mound, Texas; two great-granddaughters, Grace Anne and Lily Kate Reinhardtsen of Flower Mount, Texas; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Francis Brain and Sidney George Brain; and sisters, Mary Brain, Patty Brain, Sarah Crume, Lois Wheat and Jay Shirley Shupe. Flora Jean taught at Pontiac, Shannon and Stuttgart schools. She was a very active member of Grand Avenue United Methodist Church. She served as president of the United Methodist Women and received a Lifetime Special Mission Recognition pin in 1957. She was a Sunday school teacher and held numerous offices in the church. She was a breast cancer survivor and member of Breast Friends. An amazing cook and avid gardener, she always had fresh flowers in her home and her flowers graced many homes and events. Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Thursday, September 27, at Grand Avenue United Methodist Church, Seventh and Grand, Stuttgart, with burial following in Lone Tree Cemetery.
