Charles Hildreth White

CHARLES HILDRETH WHITE of Little Rock, Ark., was born August 19, 1929, in Arkadelphia, Arkansas, the son of the late William Delane White and Kathleen Hardage White. He departed us on September 24, 2012. He earned his master's degree in social work from the University of Missouri. Mr. White joined UAMS on July 8, 1958 as a pediatric social worker investigating child abuse cases and helping families get medical care they needed. In 1972, he was named director of social services, and then two years later he was appointed as director in the Office of Human Relations. He was named assistant vice chancellor for employee relations in 2003 and remained in that position until his retirement after 53 years at UAMS. He had three brothers that preceded him in death: William J. White, Arthur D. White and Frederick T. White; and three sisters, Ruby L. Brewster, Georgia Bell White and Clara A. Thorpe. His loving survivors include: one daughter, Florence Caldwell of South Dakota; two grandchildren children, Ronald E. Moultrie of Atlanta Ga., and Stacy L. Moultrie of Little Rock, Ark.; four great-grandchildren, Brittany Moultrie, Cydney Moultire, Montay Moultrie, and Xavier Moultire; one surviving sister, Anna M. Pope, of Pontiac Michigan and a host of other family members. A celebration of Mr. White's life will be Friday, September 28, 2012, 9:30 a.m., at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, 310 West 17th Street, Little Rock, Ark. Interment will follow with honors at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery, 1501 Maryland Ave. North Little Rock, Ark.
